• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

a problem with ModelconverterX

robystar,

yes, it's AI aircraft. I think contact points are correct (as I see it at the gate).

I try this without animation - all is OK. But any animation cause problems -
when I track AI-aircraft it looks like the camera falls through the ground.

Hi Romgun,

If you mean by that, that the AI Cessna without animation works fine (that is, starts, taxies and takes off and lands), then I think indeed that it is related to the conversion.
Hopefully Arno knows the answer.
Udachi I wish you (or something like that):).

Hi,

Did you check that the animations are ok if you reimport the mdl again? Sounds like you found a bug where some animations are exported wrong or so.

Hi Arno,
as I can see MDX show normal animation after reimport.
Maybe you have a look at my files in the post #19....

Ok, will check the file later tonight when I am behind my pc.

Hi,

I had a look at the files you posted. When I load that MDL or X file indeed I see the animations as you would expect them. So I don't know why the object disappears, I am afraid I know too little about AI for that.

Hi,
Thank, Arno...but I think this is not AI problem.... I've tried to replace the default model by my model+texture for test (air, cfg are default). There are no aircraft in the main selection menu, no aircraft in the spot mode. But I see it in the tower camera and top-down camera in some distance from it (therefore, with the approach of the camera aircraft disappears)!
Is it look like the problem with LOD? But I have no such trouble without animation.. I don't know.... :(

Hi,

Sounds like some issue with the lod or the bounding box or so. I'll try to have another look, maybe I can see something weird.

I find solution )))
The problem was caused by incorrect parameters of radius and bounding box.
But what reason has caused this error?

Hi,

What did you change the values to? You made them a lot smaller I guess?

Xtomdl calculates those values normally. Let me check if I can reproduce the problem here. I haven't seen much issues with fsx mdl files and wrong values.

Hi,Arno
Yes, I set radius and bounding box at about 7 m. It's working for me.
Maybe you have a look at my files with wrong value (see above).

And 2 another questions :o ...
1) Can MDX import props as attach object with blurred texture?
2) Is any way to kill shadows of the object?

Hi,

I'll have a look at your files.

Attachpoints of objects are supported, so I guess that should also work for a prop.

I guess the easiest way to have no shadow is to alter all materials and set them to no shadow.
