• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

A video tutorial?

Would you like to see a video tutorial about ModelConverterX 1.0

  • No, the user manual is enough for me

  • Yes, that would be useful

  • Yes, but an interactive online demonstration where I can ask my questions would be even better

Now that version 1.0 has been released, I am thinking about making a video tutorial to explain how to use ModelConverterX. Or another idea I have is to have some online session where I give a demonstration of what the tool can do (using video streaming and the teamspeak server we have).

Are this suggestions that you as user would find useful or not?

Hi Arno

I found your video tutorial on LOD creation very well done and informative. You have made some chamges since that was made. Could there be a case for updating that? It's certainly an area where I think extra help would be appreciated.

Iain

Hi Iain,

Yes, I was thinking to do an overview tutorial of the entire tool. I guess that might be useful for many users. The LOD tool would also be included in that again.

So many answers...!
Thank you for this powerfull tool. Only thing I'm missing is extraction of the full textures list from mdl or library bgl.
But may be a video might instruct me how to ;)
Also it seems fs9 mdl are not allowed :o
Anyway, thanks again and "yes" to the video

Hi,

Both the texture list and the FS2004 MDL files are still on my wishlist :).

The video tutorial is still planned, but this month I will be travelling a bit more than usual for my work. So it will probably take a little bit longer than I wanted :).

Just a small update. Lately I have been quite busy, but now there are some days off coming here in the Netherlands (Queens day, liberation day, etc). So I plan to use one of those to work on a new video tutorial.

I have (finally) finished the video tutorial. You can find it on the Wiki, here is the link.

Let me know if there are other features that are unclear to the user and would benefit from another video tutorial.
