• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

add lights on a flight deck

hi guys,
I have done an aircraft carrier with 3dmax and I would like to add lights effects on its flightdeck
Is there a method to add lights before exporting?
regards

Hi,

I would have answered that if it had been a thread in MCX. Now I am not sure.
In MCX you would just attach some effects or lightobjects to the mdl and then compile again as model or a bgl.

is there a tutorial o how to do?
Imagine having a full ship with imported mcx and now what I have to do?
I thought to design night texture for the deck but I'm not sure to figure out the result
I beg your pardon If I wrong the side of this thread, administrator could move this in the right section pl.
regards

I studied well, but I have still doubts
  1. Is there a tutorial where design a simple rwy light?
  2. I created a 3 orthogonal planes in 3dmax 2sides but which effect I have to attach?
do you have a simple example to follow?
for the moment I'm doing night textures for the flightdeck waitning to improve this job.
regards

Well you can't have studied those posts well.

You can't use SCASM lights on a carrier.

Attached effects would suffer from there being a lack of size change relative to distance, unless you introduce LODS.

You might be able to attach /bgl lights. But this seems to not be overly popular.

I would use the texture method: outlined in those threads. No attached effects.

Texture the planes according to how to in those threads.

Put planes where you want the lights to be, then create LODs by changing the side of the planes. x,y,z.

Experiment with LODs with MCX to see what gives you the best result.

This is quite difficult, but once you know how, it is very effective in making an entire airport's lighting.
