• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Adding an AI flight

Ok, I'm just putting the finishing touches to a small airfield -- thanks to lots of reading and tips from this forum -- and all I need to do before release is add an AI flight.
This airfield is home to a whale-watching company, and all I want is an aircraft to take off a couple of times each day and do a quick flight out to sea and back. Any ideas on the tools/techniques I need here?

To make a BGL with traffic you need TTools. But it could be hard to get it to fly to the sea and back, as the only options are do a touch-and-go on the airport or fly to another airport.

And the other way is dynamic scenery, which has some caveats but it can fulfill the idea of such flights.

I just d/l'd AI Flight Creator from Avsim, but I haven't had a chance to use it as I'm still working on the graphical portion of an airport. The interface seems reasonably easy to understand. When I get a chance, I'll try it out and let you know how well it works, or you can d/l it yourself. One of the things I liked from the doc's was the fact that it auto adjusts for time zones so you don't have to convert all your ai flights to Zulu, a pain in the butt from everything that I've heard.

Jeff....I use that tool, and it's great! Fast and easy. But you still need to hand edit your flight schedules to get your arrivals on time.

With computing power sitting on my desk that would have cost several hundred million dollars as well as a climate controlled building the size of a warehouse not all that long ago, you're telling me I have to hand edit :yikes:
'What a world, what a world' the witch says as she melts away!

The more I know, the less I understand. :scratchch

toprob,

I beleive with AFCAD you can create a water runway anywhere you like - just be sure to check the option to make the runway invisible (if you selct a water texture for the runway it more than likely will not match the surrounding water) and make sure you create some invisible taxiway connectors with parking spots. Your plane wont take off from its departure point if there is no available parking at the destination. Hand coding with TTools is not hard, you only need to write three short txt files.

Ive done this myself, but its been a few months ago, so my memory is a bit rusty.
