• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Adding Ferry Fuel Tanks

Good afternoon,

Not sure if this is the correct forum or not. I am trying to add ferry tanks to the Aerosoft Twin Otter. I guess the easy way to do this would be to increase the size of the two centre tanks, but I thought I'd check on doing it the hard way first.

I've added a LeftAux and RightAux tank to the aircraft config file. That much was pretty easy to figure out. I went to the sim to try it out. I set Center1 and Center2 tanks to 0 and filled both auxiliary tanks. Engines wouldn't start which kind of makes sense as there would be no pump to move the fuel - either straight to the engine or into the centre tanks.

Is there a way to do this? I have seen a few posts suggesting adding code, but I don't know how to do this.

Don't know much about the Aerosoft Twotter... I would imagine it's gauges and programming are proprietary (i.e. not editable by the end user). But, if it uses XML for it's gauges, you can modify it's code to add your own flow and selector system to draw from your tanks.

Alternatively, you can create your own gauge to feed fuel from your tanks using XML and completely ignore the system Aerosoft has in place.

Failing those, simply adding fuel capacity to the existing tanks will probably be your only method that I am aware of.

BTW, this is probably better suited in the Gauges subcategory. :)
