• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Adding runway or changing runway number

After I add a runway or change a runway number, how do I make it appear in the dropdown list to assign to a ILS? Right now if I change or add a new runway, it won't appear in the dropdown. Do I need to compile and reload it?

To have any changes show up in FSX you would need to compile a BGL file and make sure that newly compiled BGL file is placed in the addon-scenery folder for FSX.

Is your question above referring to the ILS approach to the runway? For example you have runway number 20, with an ILS approach called ILS 20. Now you want to change that runway to 21 and have the ILS approach called ILS 21, is that correct? If so then you have to update the ILS approach information as well as the runway number. This is done through the editing of the approach data. You'd have to edit the appropriate ILS approach and update the name of it, as well as any other information that might need to be modified based on the changes you made to the runway.

Hi, thanks for the reply, but I was referring to the Editor itself and not in FSX.

If I start a brand new Airport and just drop down a runway, then create a ILS feather for that runway, if I use the Runway pulldown option to set it to a runway, that option box is empty.

So maybe I'm missing a step to get the runway number to show up in the dropdown box in the editor?
 
Great thanks, to give a good example, I created a brand new airport and set down 1 runway. I gave it 36/18 for number.

I then created to ILS feathers, one on each end. Now I want to use the ILS data and use the Runway Pulldown to associate it with Rwy 36. But the Runway pulldown is empty.

I will have to check this and get back to you. It may be a bug, or possibily something else. I'll let you know.

Done some checking, and it looks like you found a bug. If you save your airport and reopen it then the runway number shows up. We will have to fix this for the next version.
