• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Adding Sound

Hello to Downunder.

Tell us please for what do you like sound?

Flaps? Doors? Gear? Rudder? Or inside the Plane?

Ok i've looked everywhere in gmax is there a way u can add sound to an animation?

In GMax? No, since GMax doesn't do sounds...

...but then, I'm fairly certain that's not what you were really asking. ;)

In FS9? No.

In FSX, yes - sort of.

In FSX you can Attach an .fx file to any object. The .fx file itself can play a sound. You can write XML code for the model's object to control it's visible condition based on some sort of input variable, or some conditions can be added to the .fx file's conditions.

However, this is not the normal way to do things. ;)

BTW, you seel to be missing the "y" and "o" keys on your keyboard; or at least forgot to use them... :stirthepo

For door and canopy sounds, the easiest approach is to simply add those to the sound.cfg file for the model:

Code:
[EXIT_OPEN]
filename=door_small_open

[EXIT_CLOSE]
filename=gdoor

Of course using this method one would put the "door_small_open.wav" and "gdoor.wav" files in the a/c's \sound folder.

Although I wrote that tongue-in-cheek, this is one of my pet peeves... After all, it's not like cell-phone text messaging where one is charged by the number of letters sent... :D

Sorry about that man its just a habit, theres worse situations though where i type a word and miss letters and it gets me in the poo.

and with the sound config i just wanted to say thanks because i never would of thought of that

No problems, mate! It's a pretty bad habit though. I have a difficult time writing business correspondence these days because I keep forgetting to whom I'm writing and try to put "smilies" in such letters... :rolleyes:

Haha,
Hopefully you remember who your writing to and take them out before they are sent;)
