• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v5 Aerospatiale AS350 Ecureuil

I've been working on the center console gauge, internal lighting including backlit dimming gauges and dome lights. FDE has been improved (with limitations), rotor speed now matches the real world figure. Handling has been improved and is now a tricky bird to fly at slow speeds. I'll eventually do away with the turboprop flight model as it is severely restricted on what can be done (FDE, engines, etc), although the EH101 FDE ain't no better. Slowly getting there....

I decided to do away with 2D gauges and replace them with 3D parts. While the 2D gauges has served this project well, it was best to create better resolution units to match the rest of the model(s). Everything has been built, painted and animated. Hopefully I can do all code in the next few days and it won't be a lot 😁

Next two items checked off. Animated turbine blades and custom electrical system. The new electrical system is capable of charging, discharging and overload. Also a new battery temperature model that increases with everything thrown at it alone, even more with the starter engaged. Battery alone will die if left on too long, it'll die quicker if everything is turned on, no engine combustion and no generator ⚡⚡

And a video of the final sounds. Awaiting for approval to use one sound clip

The first release (AS350D) is not far off, other versions will be released in increments (with code changes to the engine logic). All 2D gauges (except for radio displays, logics) have been replaced with 3D parts, FDE is more or less complete as well as the sounds. Turbine Sound Studios have been gracious enough to let me use a couple of sound samples from their FS9 AS350 soundpack, but modified slightly for this project.

Of course this is a continued work in progress project as other variations are planned (with time of course) and I do have plans to switch FDEs at some point as the turboprop flight model is showing its age and is very limited on what could be done with it.

I'm hoping for an initial release sometime this month and if there's interest for FSX version, I'll do one for that platform (I'm only on P3DV5 and XP12 these days).

The new build will have an autopilot in place. By default, P3D does support helicopter autopilot and this will be my first project to include it.

I'm not trying to nitpick here ............... but ............. isn't that panel a bit 'black'?

As in 'looking for a black cat in a coal mine with the light off' black, or is it that the panel has not been textured yet and we are seeing the model without any textures applied to it? :scratchch

I'm guessing the latter. ;)

The final color for the panel itself is grey with a non black glare shield, it's just the way P3DV5 renders materials
