P3D v4 After back in P3D design: Odd issues are back with me...

Hi all,

being back again to my P3Dv4 RAF Gütersloh scenery after a long time, I stumbled again over some weird issues. Hope you can help me and it is maybe only a problem in understanding again.

So please have a look at the shot: What you see is a working v4 model which I use for reference to show my current problem.

1 You can see that all effects are attached correctly.
2 Button icons for spot light visibility are pressed.
3 Under options, I chose "Replace Effects By Lights"
4 Weird: Inside the "add-menue" the option "spot light" is missing. In lots of tutorials how to create dynamic lighting, there is a line called "Spot light". In all my versions, also the earlier down to 1.4., there is also no spot light option. But due to the vids it should be.

Each help is much appreciate. Many thanks in advance.

Hi,

In the latest MCX a spot light is also a light. Within the light there is an attribute now where you can select if it is a point or a spot light.

Thank you very much, Arno. Is there also an option to see my attached objects back as a spotlight?

That should happen automatically when the replace effects by lights option is enabled.

Precisely not, Arno. I mentioned this under "3", but unfortunately I have no visual spotlights no longer.

The effects to light conversion only works if you keep the default MCX effect file names. I see that you have another name for the spot light FX and then that feature does not work.

Good hint, as always, Arno. Thank you. So there are so many things to know setting everything in order. Will try coming back to it step by step :)

Okay, in my case spotlight only appears when following option is set:

General > Type > SPOT
By default, this option is set to POINT
Changing this, I got following satisfying result:

Correct, like I said there is an attribute in the light itself now that determines if it is a point or a spot light.
