• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AI Aircraft heading on parking spot

I have forgotten if there is a way to deal with this or not.

Situation: an aircraft in front of a HAS with non drive-through parking. The aircraft is facing away from the HAS when it is created by the AI engine, according to the heading of the parking spot.
When it comes back from a flight, it taxis onto the aparking spot, but facing towards the HAS.

I kind of remember there was a technique to make it turn on the spot, but I cannot remember it.

Thanks!

Although I am not sure what you mean by HAS, I guess you refer to the pushback distance?
If that is the case, then adding a node very, very close to the parking spot center (either in front or behind it depending on FS9 or FSX/P3D will make the aircraft turn around on the spot (well almost and with a hardly noticeable pushback).

Hi Roby.

HAS = Hardened Aircraft Shelter.

No, I am not talking about push back. What I mean is this:

I have a parking spot facing west. The connecting link goes further to western direction.

Any AI aircraft spawning on that spot does so facing into western direction.

But a landing aircraft will go to that spot (coming from western direction) and will park on the spot facing east.

Does that description make sense?

My question is if there is any way to let the parking aircraft turn on the spot to face west.

From mobile hence short

I do not think that is possible without a drive through plumbed taxiway set up.
Maybe you could find more info on some older threads where static aircraft carrier taxi layouts are discussed (but they are also more or less plumbed)?

It rings a bell, George, but a very faint one. Was that dragging a blue node opposite of the apron link from the parking spot center?

You need to place the first node behind the parking spot and the next node in front of the parking spot so that the aircraft turns into the parking spot to face the correct direction.

Note. It is not easy to get the correct layout and it is very dependent on the aircraft.
