• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

FSXA AI Floatplane Water Effects

When I converted the default FSX Beaver to create an AI compatible model, which required adding wheels to the contact points, I have run into a snag with the water effects (wake and spray) not stopping. The effect starts up on taxi, shuts off when the model is in the air, starts up again upon landing and taxiing to dock but then doesn't stop when the AI Beaver stops and shuts off the engine. I have tried both the default FSX spray effect and the Holger Sandmann effect from his 'AI Floatplanes Starter Kit for FS2004'. When I added a panel to the AI Beaver folder and flew the aircraft the effect would start and stop properly. Does anyone have any ideas on what the problem could be?

Many thanks,
Mike Mann

Hi,

In Holger Sandman's Vancouver plus, there is a whole bunch of AI DHC2 float planes. Have you tried those?
For AI, it depends on where you have attached the effects whether they show or not.

Actually I have tried Holger Sandmann's AI Beaver, from his and Jon Patch's Victoria Plus. There are three problems with his AI Beaver. First, they don't look very good close up. Second, the spray and wake effects are very intermittent. Third, I am going to be using the AI Beaver in a freeware Vancouver Island Scenery project, the license for the freeware program Victoria Plus does not permit me to include any parts of the program in my own program.

Regards, Mike Mann

But it will allow you take advantage of the fact that you see the way in which they have placed their effects in the aircraft.cfg.
And you might want to make your own effects because the ones used are maybe still FS9 ones and could be improved?
But do use a real AI and look at what they have adapted in the cfg and most likely also in the .airfile.
You could also simply ask Holger, as it is freeware what you are making, to give you some hints or help you out.
Worst of all would be that he sees this thread and reply to it as well:D.
