• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AI Parking Problem

I would like to know if the following idea is possible:
I have F-100 AI Jets parked on the ramp on spots designated for them based on Tail numbers. . .and set to taxi straight out. That part works beautifully and when taxiing they follow the black line on out to the rwy. The problem comes when they return to their spots, at which point they follow the yellow line and park nose in and because of the extreme angle simply stop at odd angles pointed in the wrong direction.

What I want is for them to follow the red line which would allow them to park as they should (straight in) and shut down ready for the next flight.
Is this even possible?

Thanks, and I appreciate your response but after reading the 9 page tutorial and trying to stay awake to the end, I knew I was not going to try that. I guess I’ll keep what I have. Thanks again!

I know what you mean. I've never been able to make it work either ! But clearly there are those that have.

I've made it work in small airports, but it's a mind-nunbing paper and technique (sorry, Don!), and it seems the AI will always find a way to defeat your intentions!

This kind of thing will work for an airport in one direction, but if the opposite runway is active it will result in aircraft parking the 'wrong' way round. It's also best if you don't use ADE to draw the taxyway centrelines if you want the two aircraft lines to appear as though they're exiting on the same route. Keeping a separate exit route for each line avoids AI taxying through the other line (and parked aircraft) to get to the quickest route to the runway. However, nodes on separate routes that are very close to each other can encourage AI to jump networks!
