• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

You must set the altitude to the same as the runway. I think the defauls is 0.

You need to set the altitude of the polygon, not of the runway.

How do i set the altitude of the runway. The airport is elevated at 332ft AMSL.

Jayden

Your Airport_Backgrounds_Flatten_MaskClassMap_ExcludeAutoGen polygon needs an elevation set to it. That elevation MUST exactly match the elevation of the runway.

You set the elevation in FSX_KML by clicking on "Vertices" tab and then clicking on the "Set Elevation" button.

Alternatively, you can set elevation in the kml file directly. It's a mere text file.

Ok ive set the elevation but now i have another problem. I want to exlude all the autogen apart from taxiway signs. Is there a way to just include the taxiway signs?
Also I have added taxiway centre lines but they are not showing up??!!

Yes taxiway signs are separate from autogen. They are not autogen.

To exclude autogen, you can use FSX_KML and apply the tag Airport_Backgrounds_Exclude_AutoGen to it. That'll do the trick.

The taxiway signs will stay. To get rid of them you must use an ExclusionRectangle in xml.

FSX KML can do exclusion rectangles (since v1.09).

Use the ExclusionRectangle tag.

You will see it has option to exclude taxiway signs.

Next Problem....

When i taxi on some of the taxiways / aprons they dissaper infront of me and i can only see them if i zoom out on top down view.

Any suggestions??!!

Again, I ask what program are you using to make your airport?

That problem is caused by mismatched elevations.

The elevation specified in your <Airport> header must match the elevation of any polys you make. It sounds like you are trying to make aprons using FSX_KML over the top of a flatten, but I can't tell unless you give more information.

The airfield is elevated at 97m and i set the polygon to this in google earth. What happens is when i taxi towards so aprons they dissaper infront of me.

If you like i can attach the files.

I thought I was loosing the plot... couldn't find the elevation! :D

Thanks very much!
