• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Airport Test Radius

How do I correct the Airport Test Radius after getting the following message:
"Image Too Far Way - the top left corner of the image is more than 1,000 feet from the Airports Test Radius the image cannot be added".

That message is there to prevent you from using unecessarily large background images. So my first question is do you need to use such a large background image, or can you crop it so that it is smaller? If you can't crop it, then you can adjust the test radius in the airport information display (should be top left of the screen by default.)

I hadn't realised that the image I am using was all that large an area. I had actually used Snagit to capture an aerial view of a small portion of Mechanics Bay, Auckland so that I could create a new Flying Boat Base that is now non-existent; but was used by Solent and Panam passenger flying boats in the 1930's through to the early 1960's. The purpose is to re-create the Pacific Coral route in FSX using these old aircraft in a realistic environment, and Captain Musick's flights with the Pan American Clippers of that era. I will try as you suggested and crop the image down and see how that goes. If you need to have a look at the area using google earth here are the co-ordinates I used for the centre point of the Flying Boat Base.
36 50.4661 S
174 47.1975 E

The top left latitude was -36 84.3619315
The top left longitude was 174 78.5914421

Thanks for your quick response to my problem.
