• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AlphaSim Hawker Hunter

Hi,
Is there any way to adjust the engine idle speed of the AlphaSim Hawker Hunter?
It idles at 4800rpm which is too high, the correct speed is 2500+50rpm. Dave Garwood's Hunters idle at the correct speed but I cannot find any means of adjusting the AlpaSim.

Cheers

P.S Forgot to mention that I am using FS9 ans FSX and this is my first foray into Aircraft modelling!

You adjust idle RPM in table 1503 & 1504, CN2 vs throttle position. These tables are in the airfile and can be edited with AirEd or Aircraft Airfile Manager.

Thanks for that JX, I've downloaded Aircraft Airfile Manager and spent the afternoon perusing it but I think I'm going to need some expert help here to adjust the ground idle speed.
The FGA9 Hunter Avpin starter normally winds the compressor up to 1850rpm when the engine usually ignites and accelerates up to 2500+500rpm ground idle.
Max RPM is 8000 +/- 50rpm, no problems there.

Using AAM and looking at 1503, 1504 and 1505 and comparing FS9 and FSX .air files what do I adjust (as I've said earlier, this is my first foray into .air files)?

Can I just copy the FS9 data and replace the AlphaSim data with them and alter the aircraft .cfg file to suit as well or what do you advise?

Thank you Roy, reading the reference article took me back to a RB199 ECU course I did with Rolls Royce at Filton when I worked with British Aerospace on Tornado's many years ago!
I take it that the inlet area in your tables needs to be applied to the Aircraft .cfg as well?

Silly question, but why not just use my Hunter in the first place? :)
What is it you prefer about the Alpha model?

Not a silly question Dave, I have all your versions of Hunters on FS9 and FSX but the FS9 version of Alpha's Hunter has liveries of HOCU, 45 and 58 Squadron plus 229OCU which I served on during my RAF career as a propulsion technician.
Plus it was a birthday pressie from the strife.

Had a few goes at loading Roy's reference article into the AlphaSims .air file but gave up after getting the tables all messed up!!

So I copied Dave Garwood's FSX Hunter FGA9 .air file tables 1502 to 1507 into AlphSim's .air file using Aircraft Airfile Manager which seems to work for I now have the ground idle at 2500rpm but the max. rpm has now increased to 8350rpm and rising with the JPT staying at 600*C at idle but slowly decreases with height to 450*C to 8,000'.

So I'm nearly there only need a bit of help to tweak these files until I get it spot on. (never had this trouble working on the real Hunter adjusting ground and flight idle or max)!!!

Hey!
Anybody who has a good air-file for Alphasims Hunter in FS9, to be used as an AI aircraft?
