• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Alternate Fence Profiles

Hi Folks

With the release of version 28 of FSXPlanner, there is now a selection of Fence profiles. I inserted a selection of fences into an airfield I was working on and compiled it. The result was six or so segments of the same 6ft chainlink fence!

I checked the xml file and confirmed that each fence entry had a different GUID for the profile, but it appears this has been ignored in the compilation.

Has anyone had any success with this?
And what do these other fence profiles look like?

Regards, Craig

Although MS offers several profiles for fences (and blast fences) there are actually only two that work. The others just point to one of those two.

Ah, Scruffy beat me to it!

Hopefully this odd behavior with FSX using the same fence display for multiple fence profiles will be fixed one day, even if it is not until FS 11. But we have provided the different options nonetheless.

Yeah im hoping they update that too- It would be great to have a 'tiny' fence that actually was a 'tiny' three wire wooden batton farm fence for rural strips- Even a lot of the larger airfields in NZ dont have large chain link fences

Thanks Guys

I stumbled across an explanation in the ADE forum after I made this post, despite doing a search on the site a couple of weeks ago.

Could it be done with a custom scenery object perhaps?

Hello

Presently, best way to create various fences is using LOm / Scenery Maker or Whisplacer.

You can create "fences" with various 3D objects, walls, trees.
Elements are adjusted so they are never cut, but end on a pole.
With Whisplacer, you can create a line, and "fill" it for instance with various trees , random scale, headings, ...

Main problem is to find FS libraries and objects that work correctly with transparency.
