• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Animate jetways myself?

Hi to all,

I wonder if it is possible to extract the jetway models from payware airport.bgl files, decompose them in Gmax into the parts needed by the SODE jetway creator-script, delete the static ones in the original .bgl file and add the SODE created jetways to the airport. I know that this is illegal but I'm just asking whether it would technically be possible. I think the decomposition of jetways to squeeze them into SODE format could be hard. Any comments on this?

Regards draci

you could most probably load the static jetway into ModelConverterX and export them as 3ds. Then you can load it into GMax and go on from there. Probably you'll have to convert the textures too for them to properly display in GMax.
Be aware that the model may not be fit for motion. e.g. compressing parts are only modeled to the static view, also baked ambient occlusion might look strange once the jetway starts moving.

As you pointed out yourself you are risking to receive angry emails or even worse when you do that to jetways of payware packages.

After all it may still be better to try and make your own jetway model.

I was also thinking of doing the same thing with PacSim Manila scenery because I'm bored of how the jetways don't move.

And yes, it may be illegal, but as long as you keep it to yourself and don't share it online, you should be fine. Then again I don't know much XD
