• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi, im trying to make some animated light in blender for a lighthouse to msfs. I have made my light flashing and different color (Animation) in blender, but cant push the animation down as an NLA animation? Like other objects do, is there no way i can export different colored light flahsing?

I am aware of the Blender2msfs exporter options for lights, but they cant display different colors

Hope someone could help :)

I don't know the solution but I'd try making the light a child of a polygon and animating the polygon.

The flash cycle and duration can be set through the MSFS parameters of the light in the Blender2MSFS toolkit. Color changing I don't know.

But i just want a light to change color and flash, not any polygons. But thanks :)
You dont need to see the polygon. Just use an "empty" , animate it, then parent the light to the empty. Or you can just use a regular polygon with a transparent texture.

Even that won't help him what he's trying to achieve. Using a polygon to parent the light to might be useful to move or rotate the light. But he wants to change the light color and intensity which I think is not possible except for a flashing sequence which can be set in the light's MSFS parameters.

Yes exactly, i have parented to a object so it rotates around, but it cant change the color with that:)

Sounds like you might be better off creating an fx and attaching that to the model.

It's likely that MSFS doesn't support animating light colours. Not all animations available in Blender are supported in MSFS.

Or consider why you need the light to change colour. If it's something simple like toggling between white and red you could create two lights and switch (or rotate) them.
