FSX Animation import problem

Hello,

I am trying to import a model with animations (VC of an airplane) in order to exchange animation of a feet altimeter with an animation of a meter-based altimeter.

However when I look at Animation Editor window, there is a pretty long list of "Unknown" animations. Consequently as I re-export, these animations are lost.

Is there a way to circumvent this?

Hi,

Are you using the latest version of ModelConverterX? Version 1.3 has limited animation support. But even with the latest version I can't guarantee that no animations are lost on export.

I was using the newest nightly (at the time). Not sure if there were changes in the meantime.

Hi,

There haven't been recent changes to reading animations.

For FSX there shouldn't be unknown animations normally, the tool will make a custom animation for unknown types.

Ok, but I don't have that model. I'll double check if importing works as it should with some aircraft model I have here just to be sure.

Hi,

I tried it with another (complex) VC I have here, but I don't see any unknown animations. I get custom animations for the non-default ones.

I have tried it again with latest release, still nothing. Too bad, I really hoped I could convert altimeter to meters.

Hi,

Weird. The path to the modeldef.xml is valid on your machine?
