• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 Animation Question

Hi All,

I first want to thank all of you for the amazing help you have provided me on my past projects. I have learned so much.

I have a new project, and I have a little problem that I think you all can answer.

I am using gMax FS2004, and have created a scenery building. I have operating windows using Arnos CAT program.

Now here is what I would like to accomplish.

When the Trigger is activated in FSX the window will opens, but I would also like for the certains (which I have animated) to billow around while the window is open then stop once the window is closed.

I think I am asking, how do you take the curtains and have them keep blowing about until the window closes. Some way of having the animation loop?

I know you guys can figure a way to accomplish this. :)

Thanks,
Bill

Hi,

Within the same object it is hard to achieve, unless you manually tweak the ASM code.

But if you make the curtains as a separate object, you could add an animation condition to it with CAT. Not a trigger, but a condition. In that case it will loop, as long as the condition is valid.

Hi Arno,

The curtains would be a seperate object that would blow around when the window (different object) is openned with a trigger.

Can you make a condition that would cause the curtains to move if the window was openned via a CAT trigger.

Window is openned with Tick18 using NAV 2, then I would like the curtains to begin blowing around continuosly until the window is triggered to close.

I could assign it to the same NAV frequency, and could get the same results of the window openning and the curtains blowing, but I want the curtains to continue blowing as long as the window is open and not stop before the window is closed.

Am I making any sence? lol

Hi William,

Yes, you use the NAV2 as trigger for the windows. For the curtains you use the same NAV2 as an animation condition. I think that should give what you are looking for. Maybe only while the windows are still opening it might look a bit weird.

Hi Arno,

Will give it a try.

One other question, you use a value of 1200h when using a NAV trigger, what would be an example of a value you would use for "Time of Day" ?

Hi,

Time of day is easier.

1 days
2 dusk/dawn
4 night
