• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Animation woes

Problem; In FS I move the control wheel to the left, the animation looks good on all cables. I move the stick to the right, and near the end of the animation, the whole works does an about face and shoots the other way!

Am I being bothersome yet? :D
It's a good thing I got a haircut last Saturday because if I didn't I would be pulling it out.

These are all aileron cables.

1. Lower cable is the loop to the control yoke. You can see the pulleys that route the cable down; through the instrument panel outter edges; down to a pulley the routes the cable horizontally towards the centerline of the airplane; to another pulley abou 8-inches away that routes the cable up to a bicycle chain that continues upward; and then the chain wraps one-quarter turn around a 3-inch sprocket on the end of the yoke; the chain continues horizontally to the matching sproket on the other yoke; the chain is routed downward until it connects with the cable that continues the loop to the top of the cabin.

2. The middle cable runs to the aileron.

3. The upper (and aft) cable is the return cable that runs from one aileron to the other, thus completing the aileron loop.

Thus, there are two loops connected together by that 1x1.5 flat plate with four holes.

What I thought was a simple animation has turned out to be a nightmare. I've tried numerous animation tags. The top works, the bottom doesn't. Each tagged differently (L/R_aileron_percent_key, L/R_aileron key, etc) In FS I move the control wheel to the left, the animation looks good on all cables. I move the stick to the right, and near the end of the animation, the whole works does an about face and shoots the other way!

I've went through and deleted all animation tags, keys, everything several times, and checked every part parent/child for a misplaced key and find nothing wrong. The top cable goes one way, the bottom set goes the other way. Or they should. Could someone of knowledge lend me a hand and possibly ideas as/to what I'm doing (or not doing!) wrong.

Linear was one of the first things I checked/changed it to. They still have the same symptom. It'd be a shame to not have them animated. Which may be the case. I haven't found much information on animations of cables.

Thanks Zeiten
