• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Animation

Hi guys,

I have imported textured, night-lighted, and landable objetcs in to FSX. Now I am working on animation.

My object is a hangar and I am animating the door. I can get the door to operate tagged as NonRandomAmbient using the Animation Manager under 3DSM9.

However, I would like to have the door move in response to user action such as a keystroke or button push. I have tried linking it to the wing_fold_l_pct and wing_fold_r_pct to no avail.

Should I create a custom animation tag in modeldef.XML or can I link to an existing one to make the door operation user controlled?

Unfortunately, conditional based animations are simply not supported in FSX... :banghead:

This scenery opens a hanger door when NAV2 is tuned to 115, not sure how this was done, but I think it is what you are looking for?

If you work it out, be sure to post how :)

That is an FS2004 model that has been 'tweaked' using Arno's CAT tool. FSX will display such models just fine.

FSX's XtoMDL.exe however does not support conditional scenery animation.

Note for the future: FSvNext will most likely not support FS2004 and earlier scenery at all. Period.

As Bill said, only possible when you use the FS2004 gamepack and tweak the resulting animation. In FSX this is not supported unfortunately.

Importation a "animated object" from 3DS Max V9 to Fsx.

Good morning
I wanted to import an object from "3DS Max V9" to Fsx.
I would like to give me a tutorial about adding an animated object from 3DS Max V9 to Fsx.

Make the hanger door an animated jetway, that way you can animate it with the Ctrl-J keystroke. once your close enough. you would also be able to close them behind you if you make the parking spot big enough.

I have extra animations linked to my Jetway Hood animation and they work well.

My next trick will be a stairs truck to work as a Jetway. Eg be parked at the side of the parking spot, then on animation will drive out and connect the stairs to the door.

Did you use the IK animations for your door as well? Or is that not even needed to make them work with the jetway trigger?

I am currently making a hanger in gmax and would like to know how to make the doors a jetway. Do I just give it a tag after I animate it?
