• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I added the LM textures to the carnival in th EPGO2010 scenery but when I sent it back, saved it I lost the animation effects. Had this happen before. How do I save the animated objects intacted?

Hi,

What kind of animations were those? For example skin and bone animations are not supported yet. Also for FS2004 MDL files only tick18 animations are supported at the moment. So what kind of MDL are you reading?

You got me there being a beginner. The animations are a few of the carnival rides. Don't know what you mean by skin and bones. What are 1ick 18 animations! With that said, thenn how might I add the night (LM) textures without having to use modelconverterX?

Is it a FSX or FS2004 mdl file?

I would believe it to be an FSX file though the designer has created a FS9 as well as an FSX download. here is the file. The section I am working on is the third one, the theme park or carnival.

It's a FSX model and all animations are of the type ambient. I can't see why they would be broken when exporting again.

As long as you export to FSX mdl or bgl it should be quite automatic. I'll have another look tonight.

Thanks, I tried several times. I added the nicgt texture s in the material editor and exported as scenery. Opened back up and no animations.

Arno, something is indeed happening.. I know custom animations are not fully functional, but Some of the standard animations are also affected. Arno in the MDL's I sent you look at door animations.. It works but does not complete full animation (opens only halfway).

Ya, kind of a bumber because even as a beginner the night textures I added came out real nice and a Carnival always is more fun at night!

Jim, I'm going to check this model. Hopefully I can find something, your model is so complex that it's very hard to debug for me. So if I can reproduce it with a more simple model like this it's hopefully easier to solve.

Cool. When your done would you send me the isolated model? That's what I wanted out of the addon so I can use it in other locations.

Oh,, one more thing, maybe explain to me how you did isolate it and keep it as a separate model.

Hi,

If I export the two models with animations here, they animations are kept. On import in MCX they just show again. So it must be something that goes wrong on the export on your side. Are there any warnings in the event log? And does the XtoMDL output show the lines that mention there are animations in the model?

Not sure I follow. I ave imported the EPGO_Airshow.bgl. Now I just use Export Scenery and overwrite correct?

You have a library .bgl that contains several models. Have you tired exporting each model? In my experience animations are very "fragile," they are the first to go if the model is overly complex or approaching limits. Next goes the UV mapping. Libraries are just a convenient way to store models, you can export each model as it's own .bgl and in that context the animations might stick.
