• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Another Poly Question

can you or anyone else explain what is going on and how I can out it right.
Firstly, you are using an FSX screenshot as a background image in ADE. Can you be sure it is registered correctly?

I use slew mode in FSX to move to each end of a runway then place a marker in ADE to show the limits. I can then position and scale the background image to suit.

As I have said previously, I have never managed to use an FSX screenshot as a background image, it is always distorted.

Right George lets follow this path a bit further.
Yes I am using an FSX screen shot but also got the same using a google earth shot.

Now what do you mean by it being "registered correctly"??

You use FSX to determine the end of each runway and mark it in ADE, fine but what are you using as a background image?

As I have said many times I am sure it is something to do with what I am or am not doing correcty.

I slew to a position more or less in the centre of 10/28 and use those co-ords as my "New Airport" co-ords.
When I connect ADE to FSX there is a red cross in ADE and I match the "plane" to that, is this in fact right.
I then just draw my poly around the airport.

No, one point is insufficient to dertermine the scale of the background image. You need at least two (preferably more).

Here is a correctly scaled background image:

But if I had used this image, it would have been completely wrong:

Well there you go George I knew you'd get me there in the end.
The way I was doing was WRONG.
I have just tried it using what said and put a marker at each end of the runway and scaled to that and damn me it worked.
So now I am going to do a bit of fine tuning and see what happens.
I will report back.

Much obliged to you and everyone else.

It's all in the tutorial which was installed with ADE Richard ;)

Just reporting back.

I started from scratch and used 6 points which were critical to my plans and all has worked out great.

Thanks again all.
