• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Applying mesh to new island?

I am currently making Malta photoscenery. This small island beetween two bigger ones is not included in default FSX at all, and thats why when I covered it with photoscenery its completely flat. However I have my own custom mesh which should also cover this island installed, but I don't know what I need to do to make that mesh apply to this area too?

Picture about what it looks now:

Thanks for helpers now beforehand :)

Don't understand, you made your own mesh but don't know how to apply this to the scenery ?, Can explain better how you create the mesh, greetings

The area between the two islands is covered in water in FSX, correct? That water has an elevation of zero and will override any mesh, default or addon.

If you want the little island to appear where the photoscenery shows it to be you must remove the default water for the area and readd new water with the area of the little island left cut out. Only when there is no water forcing everything down to sea level will your mesh help to form the terrain for the little island.

How exactly can I prevent this from happening, not sure how to add water back to those areas outside island.

If you prevent it from happening you will have no little island. What happened is what is suppose to happen. Now fire up SBuilderX and start making new water polygons to outline your area covered in land that you want to be water. It can be a bit tedious, but for an area that size it should not take a lot of time.

The new water is bad defined and not match with the coastline,..I guess. but if all the geo data is correct should match. but you are keeping in the good track. I work with FsxKml so don't know how Sbx work.

Though I wonder if there is any kind of way to fix these things where water goes uphill on coasts:

You need to ensure that your hydr-poly exactly matches the coast.

However, your mesh doesn't fit the photo-textures so you will get cliffs.

Its Comino island, beetween two biggest islands of Malta. I am using 30m ASTER mesh, I don't know if there is any better sources available...
