• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Alguém pode me ajudar?
Obrigado.

This website uses English. You should use something like Google translate if you are unfamiliar with English.

I´m sorry. I thinked that would be automatic traduction.
Well, the title is : How to build a polygon or apron tilded to one side

I'd like to make a polygon or apron tilted to one side.

I know this may seem like an innocent question, but for now, it's just me, and I can't improve the terrain without this tip.

Can anyone help me?

Thanks.

Hello:

Please mark your post with the version of FS that you are working with.

In all versions of FS, Aprons are intended to follow the Airport Reference Point (aka "ARP") Altitude in Properties, so AI Traffic works.

In ADE or SBuilderX, you can make a custom Terrain Polygon mapped with an 'Apron' texture, and set Altitude for each of its vertices.

You can also make a sloped flat surface 3D model of an Apron mapped with an 'Apron' texture, and set Altitude for each of its vertices.

That 'Ground Polygon' (aka "G-Poly" or "GP") can be made / placed using SCASM / ASM code, over a sloped Terrain flatten T.I.N. object.

Tell us the airport ICAO- and/or post screenshots of the scenery- you are working on, and we may be better able to help. ;)

Olá:

Por favor, marque sua postagem com a versão do FS com a qual você está trabalhando.

Algumas informações gerais estão aqui:

https://www.google.com/search?q=site:+www.fsdeveloper.com+ADE+sloped+Apron&client=firefox-b-1-e&sca_esv=791d36d7831626ad&channel=entpr&ei=c9W9aIDfF_ewptQP8PPJaQ&ved=0ahUKEwjA5P-RqsePAx V3mIkEHfB5Mg0Q4dUDCBA&uact=5&oq=site:+www.fsdeveloper.com+ADE+inclinado+avental&gs_lp=_qIBgGQBhO6 BgYIARABGAm6BgQIAhgHkgcFMTEuMTWgB8LDAbIHBDkuMTW4B8sTwgcIMC4xNy43LjLIB1M&sclient=gws-wiz-serp

Thanks Gary,
As I understand the " Apron" polygon would have the same altitude of the airport, in case of AI Traffics.
But, even so, i get to modify the altitude of some vértices, as I need. Is that so ?
What do you mean with "Apron mapped with an 'Apron' texture" ?
So, I think that wiht a terrain polygon I get to modify the height of the certain vértices? Would be the better solutions for me.
The last question: How to modify the height of a vertice ? I get to modify only the x and Y axis, not the Z axis
Consider, that I works only wiht SDK.
I ´ll read your recomendation of article above.
Thanks a lot.

At the time, my simulator is MSFS2020.
Thanks Gary,

Correct.

But, even so, I get to modify the altitude of some vértices, as I need. Is that so ?

That depends on how the Apron is made:

* as a textured Polygon (default method) that becomes a 'merged' "Projected Mesh"

...or:

* as a textured flat 3D model placed separately from other terrain textures (NOT a default "Projected Mesh")

What do you mean with "Apron mapped with an 'Apron' texture" ?

For most users intending to utilize AI Traffic, FS (all versions) needs a flat and level surface with no edges, so it can "slew" aircraft via BGLs.

There are pros / cons to using that method; for realism, I personally prefer sloped airports if that matches IRL, and I do not use AI Traffic.

To make sloped airports requires sloped terrain mesh and/or TIN flattens; and in the case of MSFS, "TerraForming" may be used.

If display priority / bleed-thru of Aprons / other polygons on slopes is a problem, Aprons can be made / placed as textured 3D models.

That may be the best option in any version of FS, if one has a steep slope at an airport where realism is preferred.

The texture resolution and texture Material attributes can be comparable to that of a default projected mesh (except for rain effects ?)

So, I think that with a terrain polygon I get to modify the height of certain vértices? Would be the better solutions for me.

The last question: How to modify the height of a vertex ? I get to modify only the x and Y axis, not the Z axis

Consider, that I works only with (MSFS) SDK (...and not ADE ?).

I´ll read your recommendation of article above.
Thanks a lot.

The MSFS online SDK Docs may be your best resource for learning the methods MSFS SDK uses compared to older versions of FS2Kx:
