• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA APUs

Hey everyone. I finished what I wanted on the SR-71 and have moved on to another aircraft.

I am making a generic APU gauge. I noticed that the APU in FSX is more like a generator than an actual APU, there are no variables for the APU EGT and it doesnt seem to draw fuel. Which presents a problem when trying to make an APU panel.

How would I go about making a simulated APU? I have a basic panel layout I have been working on for a 727.

Thanks in advance for any help

P.s. If anyone has a good black covered toggle and some 3 position switches I could use that would be excellent.

Uh oh I hope I didn't cross into some forbidden territory...

I know one method is to add another engine which may work on any plane with 3 or less engines but what about an aircraft with 4 engines?

I think the DM trident added a 4th engine and uses that as both an APU and the boost engine. But again its only good for aircraft with 3 engines and the fuel flow would be too high unless there is a way to mod that.

I saw from Bill in the "C Gauge question: Engine, APU, time delay ...." topic you can make an apu with some air file editing but I didn't see any specifics.

Any help is very much appreciated

I had a bit of a brainstorm on how to make a simulated power generation and was wondering if this would work in the electrical system of the aircraft.cfg:

additional_system = 3,-60, -17.0

I tried it in the 172 and was showing a drain but I do not know if I need a switch to activate it.

Right now it is tied to the hot battery bus but it that is temporary.

What key would I use to trigger the additional_system?

Thanks

Just so you know you aren't talking to an empty closet, I've been following your question. Unfortunately, I don't have anything to suggest. :ziplip:
