Hello, so first question here on FS Developer:
To place the taxiway lights on the custom ground poly, I placed small rectangular cubes where each light was to be and attached my light model with the attach tool script in GMAX. The model itself is the 3-D taxiway light stand that then has another model of a BGL light attache to it. This was done so that the 3-D taxiway light stand would be visible at all hours and the lights adjusted by either radio frequency or time of day. All of the rectangles (with the attach tool script run on them) were exported as a single object with the addition of a false geometry object hidden bellow the surface. (see red arrow in picture #1 for where false object is)
Picture #1
Now when panning the view around, we see all the lights perfectly well. As seen in Picture #2.
Picture #2
But when we pan past the false object, all the BGL lights and the 3-D light stand models disappear. (Picture #3 and #4)
Picture #3
Picture #4
The question:
So is the attach feature dependent on the other, "visible", geometry in the object, should I just pace more false geometry around the airport to fix this? And as far a computer resources, is this the best way to model 3-D taxiway lights?
Thanks,
Dustin
