• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Attitude Tool

Hi all,

is there something like an attitude tool? What I am looking for is a Tool where I can input original Aircraft data and the tool compiles everything in a cool aircraft.cfg. *wink at Arno* ;) I don't know jack sh** about how to configure an aircraft.cfg, but shouldn't that be possible to have a tool with a mask of certain main preferences of the aircraft like weight, fuel capacity, wing span etc.
Maybe we have someone here who knows how to programm that and also has a lot of spare time doing it :)

Maybe thats an odd wish but I would find that very helpfull :)

so long, fly save

A similar tool is (was) the payware Aircraft Container Manager (ACM). Sadly the tool is no more available. I think it is still possible to find the free beta of ACM on the web, but this version works with fs2000 models only, if I remember correctly. The full version works with FS2004 aircrafts too but not with FSX stuff.

Ciao, Sergio

Unfortunately I can't find it on the net. Besides that the ACM Tool was not designed for FSX. the air file has changed every since. I am still waiting for Arno to reply to tell me: Hey dude, that will be my next weekend project. :)

Any other hint on that tool? Can that be done? And why did the ACM Project die?

Maybe someone has some programming skills and wants to give it a try? :o I would support wherever I can.

Hi gsnde,

will be a pleasure for me to tell ya, what I am missing. I just read throught the manual and need to find out much more about the aircraft datas. I am actual looking for a tool, where I don't have to know anything but pure facts of the airplane. I am used to do a lot of 3D stuff in the past so i thought I could give it a try. Right now I am playing around with airports and their terminals. That sorted out I think I can start working on more complex things. I just have no idea, with what to start. When i have an aircraft model, how do I give it "life"? For example the behaviour of it. I need to do a lot of research on the net but found it handy to have tool, which compiles real facts like: mass, weight, wingspann, form etc. into FSX conform xml sheets. As i mentioned, I have no idea so far how the *air files and stuff works or how they layed out. I need to learn that first :)

cheers

A long way to go, but one which can make much fun :)

I now better understand what you are looking for. I fear that this is a kind of holy grail (meaning you won't find it). Many of the real aircraft parameters (btw, have you seen the Military Aircraft Reference on my web site ;)) do not find their representation when it comes to the flight simulator model. And most of the model parameters are defined by the model itself and the associated air file. While the second one is at least editable with the appropriate tools, the model itself is in the hand of the developer only - like you can not change my AI-Aircraft Editor tool without having the code.

Still the aircraft.cfg contains a lot of important data, and here is where my tool comes in.

Hi,

after AAM is released for FSX (which will soon be the case) i will work on ACM to get it ready for FSX.
