• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Autogen

So it is confirmed that we have default autogen suppression with FS2002 style ground polygons.

But if one places a photoreal ground underneath the polygon and use Annotator to place autogen then why should it also get suppressed?

Also the latest MCX is throwing up an error when the GPW is being used with the "No suppress autogen" tweak ticked.

Hi,

Fs2002 ground polygons indeed suppress autogen. That's how it works. It doesn't matter if there is a photo scenery or landclass scenery below.

What kind of error do you get with the wizard?

Here is the error log.

These errors are normal. They are part of the no autogen suppression hack. They shouldn't prevent the bgl file being created.

Hi,

If you make your ground polygons more or les semi-transparent they do show up and blend in with the photoreal underground.

OK thanks Arno but because of the error the polygon is not visible after compilation.

I have found a workaround to get the autogen next to the airport but not on top of the polygon (I think).

1) I took my constructed ground polygon and then identified the area where the autogen should show.

2) I then used a line spline and used a boolean cut to cut those areas out where autogen was to exist and this allowed the autogen to be present around the airport.

Voila!

An airport with autogen surrounding it! (See image)

For additional effect you can include an annotator developed photoreal polygon to fill it all up...

This does not quite work for where autogen has to be in the middle of the airport. For that I use ADE to place buildings.

Also I picked up an error in the GPW, if you deselect all the seasons bar one (say Fall) the program hangs and goes into a loop.
