• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Autoplatform - help please

Trying to make a landable deck on an FSX boat mdl using the latest Dev elopement release. Using the autoplatform function seems to work, lots of platforms entries added in the box, and the model exports ok, but the part/surface that I want to be hard/landable is not. However there is a deck below and that is hard, so the aircraft falls below the top deck then lands. Any ideas as to why this may be?

Both parts are textured.

I have also tried the option of only setting the material for the part, but that function does not appear to work, no autoplatform entry created.

Does it matter what the PlatformType is? Default is CONCRETE.

Excellent tool :) - thanks Arno

Hi,

The platform type should not matter.

If you have multiple parallel surfaces I am not sure the auto platform function will work well. Maybe you can try to add a platform manually with the desired sizes.

Got it sorted.
For the part that initially did not produce a platform I discovered that if I used the 'Only with material' option but set 'Filter normal upwards' to 0.99, a platform was created. Used the same approach for all the other parts that make up the flight deck and the deck is now solid.:)

Shadows - with an a/c on the deck the a/c shadow appears and disappears in some positions. Can that be fixed?

Now I need to try and figure out how to add some arrestor cables!
