• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Autothrottle

Hi everybody

I'm trying to give a/t capability to an existing aircraft. It's Vans 727 freighter version. Vans model and many other models were easy to modify. But for the freighter version of Vans model I couldn't do it. I've changed a/t related parameters from 0 to 1 in cfg file, and modified air file accordingly. Now it should have a/t capability, but no success. I wonder if there are any other ways to mount an a/t on this bird.

Thanks.

Did you also set autothrottle_max_rpm and max_throttle_rate in the .cfg file?

Yes.

autothrottle_available=1
autothrottle_arming_required=1
autothrottle_max_rpm = 90
autothrottle_takeoff_ga=1
max_throttle_rate=5.00

Originals were 0, 0, 90, 1, 0.10

Also, in the air file I've set all three keys under header "329 Advanced Autopilot" to 1.

Do you know anything I can do further?

Do you have an autothrottle arm switch in your panel? Otherwise as per your configuration, A/T won't engage just by using SPEED HOLD/SELECT.
OTOH, if you want it to work straight out, write:

autothrottle_arming_required=0

I know. I have tested the new config even with the default panels. No success. Whatever I do autothrottle doesn't work.

Is it possible to lock autothrottle capability in mdl file? If so, then all my efforts were futile. :(

Yes, technically it is but not likely as it would make no sense at all IMO.

If you tell the name of the .zip file (assuming is freeware) I can take a quick look and maybe find where the problem is.

Ok, and this is for FS2004. Are you working on this version of FS, or you want it ported to FSX?
And which panel are you using, the default FS2004 737-400? Or a custom one?

Tom

Unfortunately I won't be able to help, because I don't have FS2004 and the aircraft comes with an autoinstaller that requeries FS9 to be installed. I'm really sorry.

Tom

Aaah, thanks. Half an hour ago problem solved in an awkward way. I was just installed the FS9 Configurator and I couldn't believe my eyes. Notepad reads my modified cfg file as a/t is available but FS9 Configurator says a/t is not available. :confused: I've been changed and saved my every action up to now. For example default vertical speed was 0 in the original and I've been set it to 800. And guess what? FS9 Configurator reads it as 0 not as 800!! :eek: This time I have modified and saved all those mismatched readings in FS9 Configurator instead of using a text editor. Then tested it in the simulator. Voila! Autothrottle worked! :)
