• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

AVSIM Hacked!

Bloody Hell! :mad: I was wondering why the library was so slow the last days... But this is definitely not what i wanted to hear! I really hope the guys will get it up again.
 
I hope they find the bums that did it and shoot them.. Or at least throw them in a Chinese prison for 5 years.. Or send them to Guantanimo for 10 years..

Its internet terrorism..
 
Avsim do have offsite backups! Very cautious users (such as a couple of friends of mine) back up all their downloads onto CDR/DVDR, and if the effort was considered worthwhile, one of them has suggested that he could burn all his files (dating back to about 2002) onto DVD and mail them back to Avsim. Of course the files are important but not the core of the site in many ways (the forums and knowhow are a big part) and setting up the descriptions and so on would be a horrible exercise, but at least they exist on the authors' computers or on other systems such as those of these people I know.

Professional data recovery might do the job but, if not, careful users can pitch in.

As for the mentality of the brain-dead that pulled this stunt, well, if this was the point of their life then its not a life worth living. So I have a suggestion for them too, to make the world a better place. ;)

Why can't people read a book if they have nothing better to do?

I just had an idea and was headed back here to edit my post, but I'll post anew instead.

Is it possible that the Avsim guys could approach Google and say "pretty please" to ask for the copy of the Avsim forums etc that Google will have cached? I don't know if Google are "too big" to be concerned with Avsim's woes, but you never know.

Failing that, anyone in desperate need of an Avsim article could still find it (if they're quick, I guess), over in Google's cache.

If anybody here knows the Avsim guys, perhaps they could suggest looking on Google or even approaching them?
 
what would possess somebody to do such a terrible thing? :mischievo :scratchch sounds like a time for the song "Indestructible" by Disturbed. (kids these days!!:D)
 
Neither Google nor any of the other archive search engines ever do more than grab the "front page" of sites such as AVSIM.

They do not capture the files from the library, nor do they capture/archive the message forums.
