• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Back to Basics

Hi all,
This is actually very embarassing after all the help I got concerning advanced design issues.
In an effort to learn more about how FSX works, I built a basic, ficticious airfield in the desert, far from anything else. It has a runway, taxiway with hold-short, apron and parking. It looks OK in ADE, but after compiling and loading in FSX, the runway/taxiway junction is all wrong. I tried re-drawing, different textures, etc., all to no avail. I am probably "not seeing the wood for all the trees", or something brake in FSX?
Please help.

Make sure the taxiway node is actually connected to the runway link. It does not appear to be, based on the taxiway centerline disappearing when it contacts the runway.

Hi Mace,

The node is connected correctly, as you can see in the pic.
I did the same field in the "other" program with the same result. The problem therefore seems to be in FSX, not with either ADE or the "other" program.
Maybe I should just re-install FSX, as I have already tried a FSX-repair, but any help would be appreciated.

I see this when there is a single entry to the runway. Try adding entrances to each end of the runway and you should see taxiway fillets at all entrances:

Adding to George's post

You must also do has FS does at many taxiway entrances. Draw aprons that appear in the shape of a fillet.

Thank you, George and Jim. All it needed was a "turning diamond", utilising apron links, at both ends. As I said earlier, this is rather embarassing. One never stops learning, thanks to guys like you.
