• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Bad visual effect on radar dish

Dear All:

I have been making a radar dish, it has 15 vertical bars and 15 horizontal bars, each one with a width of 2 cms (0.02M).

I have a problem, when I test it from FSX i just can see it at close distence, for exampe at 20 meters, but if i see the dish from 100 to more meters i can't see the vertical and horizontal bars of the radar dish.

What can i do to see the radar dish from long distances, for example i see the dafault FSX radar dish o wireframe antennas from long distance.

I have spent a lot of hours to make the radar dish and now i can't use it because of this problem.

The radar dish is a ASR-9 radar type with aprox 5x3 meters

I hope you can help me.

Thanks.

Hi Alfredo,

Is this not just the problem that from the further distance you have less pixels to draw your objects? So there will be a distance that you do not have enough pixels anymore to see the bars and the space between them. Bars of 2 cm wide seems quite small to me, so not being to see the details from 100 meter away should quite normal to me.

Perhaps you could create a less detailed LOD model for the further distance using a transparent texture to give the semi-see through appearance instead of the individual bars.

Si
