• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Baking texture changes...

After I've backed my textures all the rendered image becomes the image on the model in the 3d viewport.

As I'm baking several models with the same texture sequentially, this is a bit of a pita.

I have to go into the nodes and reselect the original image. This results in "texturename001.png" & "texturename002.png" being populated in the image browser.

Is there anyway to stop this from happening?

One thing I've always wondered about in Blender is this overpopulation with unused textures and materials. Supposedly, clicking the 'X' or '-' button next to the selected texture/material deletes it, but I have consistently observed this not happening.

Yeah I can't get rid of it by doing that. I've got several iterations of the same textures.

Hi Shaun!

You must remove the texture from all objects and you must remove the texture from being used as a UVW texture. If you do this and then reload your project the texture or material will be removed from your project.

Thanks, Kris:)

Thanks Kris, this ua still less than ideal!
Pity I can't bake several buildings sharing the same material at once. I takes ages to do them individually. Especially when I have two materials per building, and the _lm.

That's the disadvantage of Cycles or node based baking. If you use Blender render, you can assign different textures individually to the objects, select them all and hit bake. Saves you some time if you redo the same objects frequently.;)

OK thanks for the advice. I really like the look of the cycles render though. The blender one doesn't seem to have indirect lighting.
