• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Hi Arno,

Re: Latest Beta MCX for FS9

Just a heads up - I tried to use MCX to place an object using the Object Placement Tool - it seems every time I switch the map to a satellite based view - the app crashes with an unhandled exception error...

A quick question - I'm trying to place an effect on a tower I made... The "Light" function doesn't seem to work in FS9... I did get a light to appear using the EFFECT option - however it did not position the effect where I thought it should... I'm assuming the coordinates are X,Y,Z format - so I used the following (0,110,0) to place the effect on top of a 107 meter tower... The effect displayed at ground level offset a distance from the base... I'm no expert so I'm sure I could be doing something wrong - do I understand how to use this properly ???

Regards,
Scott

Hi Scott,

What error do you get with the map?

Inside ModelConverterX the z axis is up and not the y axis as in fs. When you add a light an effect should be created on export.

Hi Arno,

Ahh - OK - thanks - my modeling software has Y as the elevation...
;)

Screenshot of error attached - from "Placement Tool"...

I get the same thing on both a Vista-x32 and 7-x64 machine...

Regards,
Scott
