• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi All,

I have updated Steve Robinson's, FS2002, Heinkel P1079bc to work in FSX Acceleration and I could now do with someone checking it over.

Anyone fancy being a guinea pig before I upload it?

If you do (i'll perhaps send it to a couple) please email me at
keith.hackett@btinternet.com.

cheers
Keith

44 views and no replies?

Wot, 44 views and no-one stepping up to the plate?

If the reason is the fact it is for Acceleration please don't let it put you off as the only thing it uses from acceleration is the sound which is aliased to the F18. This could be fixed simply by editing the sound.cfg to alias it to a stock FSX aircraft.

cheers
Keith

Do you think developers have time to beta test stuff besides, well...developing? I don't. ;)

Suggestion:

Ask the consumers in the "standard" forums, like Avsim, Flightsim, Sim-Outhouse, Simviation. They haven't got much to do besides buying, requesting and complaining about stuff anyways. :D

My apologies. I cant. I am trying to launch the FS9 version of the Dynamic before Christmas and its looking too close... I need every min I can gather.

I am an avid Heinkel fan as well, so there's sacrifice for you... arrgh...

No problem

Thanks for looking guys. I have decided to do a bit more work on
it now. I have used mostly default gauges but at night they dont
look so good together as the lighting colours are different. Some
come out orangey, some bluish.

So I have decided to do a bit more research on gauges........this
could take some time!

Good luck with your Dynamic project Bill.

cheers
Keith

Thanks Keith.

By the way, with FSX, you can do night time textures in the gauges, so if you wanted the faces to reflect a color, its totally doable. But only in FSX. (unless Leaming has found a way (or course) to do it in FS9).

:D

For FS9 "gauges" -whether XML or C- it's simply a matter of writing the routines needed to swap out the bitmaps...

For FSX, it's automatic as long as you supply the alternate nighttime bitmaps using the _night suffix in the filename! :D

Yes, I went looking for a reference to a second bmp for night lighting but the gauge only use one? Is there another way it could be lit. I am going from memory now because I am at work but the gauge in question is the default Lear altitude gauge I think.

Keith

edit: Ah, I just re-read Bill Leamings reply which states that in FSX its automatic! So the bmp is there somewhere, just not mentioned in the xml right?

Yep! Any bitmap in the folder with a _night suffix is one of the "automatically displayed alternate textures" that FSX will use whenever it's "not daytime" and the "panel lights" circuit is on.

Use a vc map light

Hi, maybe use a vc map light. This light can be custom made to glare less light and make your gauges light up nicely, without lighting up the whole cabin.
Then just place it in a good location or locations. Because you mention that the developer did not make _l textures.

This could help you!
