• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

First attempt with FSX KML 1.10.

Is this normal? (FSX Acceleration)



I used the "Exclude__HydroPolys" tag with the description as "Exclude_Hydro_Polygons_Generic_Ocean_Perennial"

Latest FSX SDK, FWTools, PreFSXKML and Google Earth Windows 7 64bit

Any chance you could let us know what the solution was? Even if it was just a typo in using FSX_XML or the kml from Google Earth, it might help someone else in the same situation - I'm learning too and need all the hints I can get! Many Thanks. ;)

1. Made the polygon in GE.
2. Put in a tag and save as KML.
3. Open Pre FsxKml and fix the KML you just made. (click settings first and find the your FSXKML folder etc)
4. Exit Pre FsxKml and add your KML and add the description.
5. Build the BGL.
6. Start FSX.

There's also tutorials in the wiki which are helpful. :D

I've just started using FSXKML so these instructions might be wrong (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Then the problem was you no used the preFsxKml fix., some times it occur if the water polygon is not bit enough and some areas left with the exclude polygon.
FsxKml is very tricky and sometimes with the tutorial is not enough.
Thanks, Eddy - I had the 'open' polygon/path problem with Google Earth (v5.2,I think) and resolved the vertices mis-match by editing within FSX-KML. Will have a look at PREFSXKML to see if this is an easier route.
