Hi all.Need help exporting from blender to fsx.I have been using gmax to create my own sceneries till now.recently I switched to blender because of the ambient occlusion I could add to textures. So after exporting a blender file ...the mdl file displays with texture in MCX and the bgl file created by ADE also show the mdl with texture. However in fsx nothing shows up.If I export to fsx without any texture then it is visible.Dont know what to do next since both the texture and model appears ok in mcx and ADE.Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Avi

I guess you export the scene object from mcx as mdl. and you can see the object with his textures in Mcx , what I can say is that it should work ¡¡

I'm learning how to model with Blender and found this on Youtube by Austin Sass.
. He has a bunch of different videos to help out with scenery and model making.

I think it doesn't even has to do with Blender, guess it's more an FSX/ADE issue.
I tried exporting from blender with the collada and obj format but the result is the same.I wanted to place the object using sbuilderx but for some reason the previously perfectly working sbuilderx is failing to download images from any of the map servers.dont know what to do.maybe I should try object placement tool.

Thanks Alan. That was the video I first watched to get a grip on blenders ambient occlusion.the video is straight forward exporting in the the collada format.I followed the video but the result was the same.

Hi Avin Ban!

I do not know how you are converting your images to DXT. But if you are not using the "Image Tool" that came with FSX SDK that could be your problem.

I have had this problem before. I found that using programs other than the "Image Tool" to convert images to DXT formats do not always work. It is best too save your texture images as .psd extension, than use "Image Tool" that came with the FSX SDK to convert the images to your DXT formats. Then save the file with the .dds extension.

Hope this helps, Krispy1001 :)

Thanks Krispy1001.I use the ImageTool and have been using the same process to create my gmax objects.

Solved. My silly mistake.I had mispelled the texture folder to textures.Sorry all for taking up your time and thanks a lot for your suggestions.Keep up the good work.We all depend on each other to make fsx a truely woderful flying experience.
