• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v2 Bombardier Challenger 605

Oz, the VC is looking phenomenal! Brilliant work. It's been a real joy watching this baby bloom.

Wow - this thread just keeps getting better and better. She's absolutely amazing, Ozman... :yikes:

It is lookig great. One thing I have to mention, you like criticism so here is a minor dose.
The white circles around switches and knobs as well as the lettering also needs wear to it since tht is usually more worn than the edges and joints would be. The fingers rub around the whites and it eventually wears it down. Just the panel faces having wear looks a little awkward, but if the panel wasrecently touched up to stay up to par with FAA regs, then you are in the clear.

The text and other labels on the surface are in their own separate layer to be worn down later...I just have them intact now for the sake of readability. ;) But they will definitely see some wear in the future!

Looking fantastic Ozzy! Just curious: how many polygons:D

I guess texturing this thing is a hell. And unwrapping..

Thumbs up!!

Right now the poly count is around the 10,000 mark And yes, mapping and texturing are a PITA. I must admit though that I enjoy the painting process...texturing as I go is slightly more gratifying than just seeing an un textured model while I'm working.

I'm currently working on getting the side consoles put together, so that will probably be the next screenie.

Actually, the text and the white lines are silkscreened so that te edge lighting works. So if there is wear, it should be worn away such that there's more transparency on the text, grey area around it...

Oz, I know you have other things in life to tend to, but I was just checking in to see how the VC was progressing. Keep up the good work.

One repaint that i'd really like to have is this one below.
Gouvernment of Quebec uses this aircraft as an ambulance for remote small cities in Quebec. C-GURG has new colours but some infos are not paint yet on this aircraft (i haven't found another picture). But if you look at the second one (C-GCFG) you will see that it's written "evacuation medicale" right behind the door. I'm looking forward this one. Thank you very much and best regards.

I am confused- The avionics you have are for the older challenger 604. The 605 has nicer lcd screens. Are you going to update the vc?

One last thing- are you modeling 9 seats, 11, or both? I would love to see the 11 seat interrior. Sorry to be so demanding- I dont mean to, just want my opinion out there. I can't wait for this jet and you do awesome work! Thanks!

And the 605

Earlier in the thread, I mentioned my plan to make the 604's cockpit first and then "mod" it into a 605 and 601 later on. But I didn't go through with that idea. Yes, the first one that is more complete is of a 604, and the latest shots are from the 605 model that is coming together.

No big plans for the interior yet...So I will take the suggestion for an 11-seat variant into consideration. ;)

As of right now, this project is in sort of a hiatus, so whenever time permits, I will get going on it again. I know it's been a couple of months since the last update, and I apologize for that. But this project isn't my number 1 priority in life right now.

Oz,

Found this in my 4 hour search for a respectable business jet add-on for FSX... How incredible. I can't find anywhere to download the aircraft yet. I saw mention that several of the popular sites would have it for download, but it is no where to be found. Is there anywhere I can get the actual plane from? I can forgo the interior and cockpits just to have such a quality piece of modeling for a change.

Is this still a wip or are there plans to cancel. Fsx needs a good super midsize jet and I am hoping this is the one. Best wishes!!

I have no plans to cancel this project. Just because I haven't posted an update in a couple of months does not mean that this is dead. The reason for no updates is, well, that I haven't touched the project files since the last update here. But trust me, I needed a break from this badly. I realize that you guys want a great business jet as soon as possible, but you also have to realize that I can only spend days and days in 3ds Max for so long before I have to take a break and recuperate. It's almost counter-motivational for me to work on a single project for too long at a time.

But something you may...or may not want to hear...is that when I do get back to this, I plan on revamping (for the second time) my exterior model. There are so many imperfections, places of low-detail, and little quirks that are bothering the hell out of me...so many things that I could have done better. For instance, my texture mapping is just awful...I got carried away with the "Relax" tool every time I UV mapped something. And whatever that was, it was modeled in such a crappy way that my Relax operations turned it into a jumbled mess of crap. Good luck trying to make a repaint of this bird, 'cause a straight line down the fuselage in Photoshop becomes a scribbled mess that looks like the product of a blind kindergartner picking up a dull crayon for the first time. o_O Add the loss of several of my source files, and I have pretty much nowhere else to turn. I'd rather rebuild with quality than try to fix a doomed model. (The cockpits will be kept, though.) ;)

After seeing the new Phenom 100 by Carenado, I thought MAN, there is so much that I could have added to the Challenger to make it look this good. All of those awesome reflections, the smooth, streamlined surface, the cabin that looks like a photograph of the real thing...It's just amazing. And I want to put that kind of quality in a freeware aircraft for everyone to enjoy.

So by the end of this summer, I plan to get cracking on this thing again. Go ahead and call me ADD, but I insist upon producing the most beautiful freeware FS plane that the world has ever seen. (Okay, maybe a slight exaggeration there.) :pCheers, and I hope everyone is enjoying their summer thus far. :)

Nothing wrong with that Ozzy, you can only stare at a monitor so long before going stir crazy. 'Round hereabouts the weather has been marvellous so why lurk inside? The Challenger will keep for cooler days.
