• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Brooklands (EGLB) mystery

Being an ex VC10 engineer, Brooklands is special to me, I was a trustee there for many years. So i decided to take the bold move to TRY to recreate the banked circuit all the buildings and runway. The VC10's were built at Brooklands then flown to Wisley for flight testing and final fitting. Just a small recognition of all the aircraft built and war work carried out there.

Imagine my surprise when positioning my 'reference aircraft' on the correct coordinates I found myself ON BROOKLANDS AIRFIELD? However this does NOT show up in the FS 'global directory' as even being part of the files?

It looks like an ADE airport but I cannot locate any files for it - It SHOULDN'T be there - WHY is it there? Has anyone already recreated Brooklands already and is it available to download please, ideally with the complete banked track?

Failing this does anyone know how to stretch and BEND triangles in Sketchup please is it even possible? :)

This picture couldn't be EGBL because the coordinates are wrong. Give us the coordinates you found this picture, they are not exactly readable.

Hi Christian

N51* 20.80 W0* 33.75 are the coordinates of that screenshot

The screenshot below, is a very accurate location taken from a Viscount overflight back in 1996. VERY similar and taking off and flying from Wisley the location looks correct? May be out by a few degrees here and there? But I strongly believe this was intended to represent Brooklands?

What do you think? But HOW has it got there?

Could you see if you can locate it when using FS9 please, take off on 28 immediate right hand bank - fly NORTH from Wisley approximately 10 miles. Should line you up with the runway IF ITS THERE?

Many Thanks

Brooklands is located at 51.3545° N, 0.4643° W

This is what I see in both FSX and P3D V4.5 (with Generation X photo scenery):

Yes looking on Google now I agree! I have just put my aircraft on what I thought was Brooklands - ITS FAIROAKS - my mistake! oops

OK so Ill go ahead with my Brooklands project as there is nothing there. I wonder how the Viscount flight came up with that location?

My thanks to you all.
