Hello,
When loading the new C47 V3 aircraft I get the message that the file "C-47_DSD_FSX_XML_sound.ini is not in my Gaugesfolder.
Indeed, it is not there.
Where can I find it or can someone send that file to me?

Thanks in advance,with kind regards,

First of all, this is a developer forum, not one for product support.

The .ini file should be shipped with the download. If not, contact the C-47 team.

There is a program called ' Everything' (no it is not mine and I am not advertizing for it) but if you use that one with the search term " C-47_DSD_FSX_XML_sound.ini " and that program cannot find it, then you do not have it. If on the other hand it finds an entry in that name, it will give you the path to where it is to be found.

Golly, I love "Everything!" It's saved my sanity more than once. When I needed to find a file I had saved over ten years ago and couldn't remember where I'd saved it, "Everything" found it in less than four seconds... :wizard:

Used to use Everything on weaker PCs as it does not require a background service (unlike Windows Search).

What amazed me the most about "Find Everything" is just how quickly it indexed all the files on my entire networked system...

...and just how quickly it will find a single filename or anything with wildcards included! :wizard:

For the team: In the readme I cannot find any e-mailaddress to ask them about that missing file. Please can you give me one of their e-mailadresses or forward my question to them? The message is very annoying because it stops initialisation of P3D.
For the "Find Everything"users= The same functions, may be even more, are in the freewareprogram Ultrasearch.

In the archive I downloaded, the entry for the gauge, in panel.cfg, is
gauge98=C47_DSD_FSX_XML_Sound!Sound, 1,1,1,1,/DGSounds/CockpitSounds_C47.ini
That means that inside the aircraft's panel folder, you should find a folder called DGSounds. In that folder is where you will find the configuration file CockpitSounds_C47.ini. That file is in the archive. The fact that the gauge is asking for the default file name suggests to me that you have changed the entry for it in the panel.cfg file.

Hi,
Thanks for your attention.
This is my line in Vcockpit01: gauge98=C47_DSD_FSX_XML_Sound!Sound, 1,1,1,1,/DGSounds/CockpitSounds_C47.ini
Inside the panelfolder is DGSounds and the referred line is: CockpitSounds_C47.ini, its size is 24,518
Via Upload I'll send a zip of my panelfile

Ah... P3D. The version of the sound gauge that is generally available does have some issues with P3D and FSX-SE.
Let's do what the gauge wants. Copy the config file to the gauges folder and rename that copy to C47_DSD_FSX_XML_Sound.ini

Hello,
I added additional liveries, but for beeing certain, I removed my V3-folder out of the airplane-folder and did a re-install of the original download into the airplanes folder..
Then I copied the Cockpitsounds_C47.ini (out of the DGSounds-folder) (assuming you mean this file as "config file") to the gaugesfolder and renamed as proposed.
Then I selected the EATS-V3 aircraft and the same message appered. Cannot find.............
Does this help?
Looking forward again,
with kind regards,
Piet

According to your screenshots, the gauge is running from the gauges folder. I have now installed the package myself and I see that the gauge is located in the panel folder.
Please put the gauge back in the panel folder and let me know how it works.

Hello DDawson,
I am very sorry but that did not work either. The same message appears. Can I have a corrupted file? Mine is from 20th July 2014 and its size is 165,680. And what about the DGSoundfolder's file Cockpitsounds_C47.ini? That one is of 5th of July 2016 and its size is 24,518. A renamed copy of it is both in the Gauges-folder and in the panel-folder.
Hoping this will help,
with kind regards,
Piet

Doug,
How do you like P3D?
Can you check in there the data of the gau and ini-files? Maybe mine are older or damaged.
reg.,
Piet

The version of the gauge that shipped with the project did not work well with either P3D v3 or with FSX-SE.
I had to update it.

Yes, use the original name and location for the configuration file.
The zip archive I posted in message 15 of this thread contains the gauge you should use. It is a direct replacement for the one that shipped with the add-on.

Hello Doug,
Trying all kinds of different names, trying to look into the files of the GAU, nothing worked yet, I still always get the message. But it made me think as well. I think that inside the GAU the related ini file is called for. I presume that the call should be for the CockpitsoundsC47.ini which is inside the DGSoundfolder. Maybe that call is for another file which is not there and that therefore the GAU answers that it looks for a default option, which is the .ini-version of its own name.
Maybe this is the reason why renaming is of no use and that the problem is inside the GAU (C47_DSD etc).
Are you able to look inside the GAU?
with kind regards,
Piet
