• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 c_wheel Question

Hello!
I want to animate this Part depending on the weight of the Aircraft. Right now it's just moving as usual, depending on the speed and breakes.
Does anyone knows how to do that?
Thanks :)

for your gear compression - that's where you use "c_gear".

key frames 0-100 cover the extension/retraction sequence,

keyframes 100-200 cover the compression animation ... where (or at leat that's what I do)..

keyframe 100 = full extension, no weight on the gear.
keyframe 150 = aircarft at rest on the ground, not moving,
keyframe 200 = suspension "bottomed out" -maximum compression.

Hi Felix!
strange.... I did like you said, but still, Fuel does not have any effect on c_gear position!
Is there anything more I should conisder like entries in the Airfile or Aircraft.cfg?

Best Regards

Sorry for the very late answer, but in FS9 (i believe) fuel hasn't any wheigt effect on the plane... I'm not sure also is better to wait another answer:D

In FS9, fuel weight does affect both the flight dynamics as well as the aircraft's stance while sitting on the ground and the amount of compression you will see on animated gear.

However, if it is a small aircraft, with a small fuel tank, the effect will be quite small. You may not notice it. Try temporarily increasing the size of the fuel tank while desiging to get a better view of the effect.

I used fuel tanks to simulate water/fire retardent in a few projects and when the aircraft was carrying its full load, it was very obvious both visually and in terms of the aircraft "feel" when flying. This was especially important for helicopters where getting off the ground in a hover can be greatly affected by the weight imposed. Also, this additional weight sometimes creates contact point and MOI challenges where the contact points and basic MOI parameters have to be configured well or you will get the "shakes" when sitting statically on the ground. But when it is all configured well, it creates a very nice effect.
