• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Can Max 'Not' Delete Polys when......

Hey all,

In Gmax, I can delete Edges 'in' Polygons 'without' deleting the inside 'skin' of the Polygon on Editable Polys'. However, in Max, if I delete on Edge in a Poly structure skin, the polygon deletes as well (skin surface). Is there a setting perhaps to turn this off? or is this a limitation with the new Max system?

Many thanks,

Bill

Bill - in Max, yes, if (in ePoly mode) you select an edge and delete it (with the delete key) you send the adjoining polygons into oblivion, something that should not be done without due process (were the polygons read their rights, etc)... the good part is that a quick application of CTRL-Z *not to be confused with PrepH) can quickly restore those polygons.

HOWVER, if instead of DELETING the edge, you REMOVE the edge, the polygons may enjoy blissful union (it should be in the same edit polygon panel where all those neat buttons to extrude, outline, inset, etc. are)

So the moral of the story is, you do not DELETE an edge if you want to keep the polygons, you REMOVE the edge.

Ahh..

Thank you Felix! and thank you also for the enlightenment of the way you told it.

I would not want my plane to have 'un-happy' poly's in its structure. I will think of them more like eyebrows now and seek to make their lives 'easier' and 'happy' as the great Bob Ross would say.

:D

After all, you do not want to feel the wrath and ire of Inspector Poly???

Do not believe that he limts himself to just FSDS users!
