• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MCX Can we save parameters in Attached Object Editor?

I've been reseaching the light to find the best option(s) for my project. A test pad (100x100 m.) was made for the purpose. The 3D of the light pole (20 m. height) was placed at he half red dot. Then the ground polygon was processed with GPW, and the pole was processed with Convert and Place Object Wizard.

I added spot lights to each one of my 5 light poles, with different light colors, with differnt rotation(s), and other parameters.

As long as I still have this procedures active in the MCX, I can still make changes to the parameters to see the difference in the P3Dv5.

But when I closed MCX, I had to redo all the the steps (adding spot lights, changing paramers). It's ok for a small airport, but imagine if I have 100 light poles and they are different, it will be a huge work load.

Can we save these setting parameters so we can always load them to make small adjustments?

Thank you.

Hi,

If you import the BGL/MDL file back into MCX you can tune the settings. Make sure to have the option that converts effects into lights set to true.

I tried with the "Replace effects by lights" set to True, compiled to .BGL. I loaded it back to MCX, and opened Attached Object Editor, and could only change the position and rotation of each light.

Other parameters for each light were not shown. Did I miss any step(s)?

They are still imported as effect and not as light.

Did you modify the default FX name that MCX uses? You will only get all parameter back when you are using the default filenames that MCX assigns.

Ah! That's why. I just wanted to get the names organized, so I changed the FX filenames to start with my airport ICAO name.

I tried it again, and this time I could see all parameters.

Thanks so much!
