• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Can't get rid of default Landclass poly

Hi
I'm working on Haneda airport RJTT. I added a small poly excluding Airport Backgrounds Flatten MaskClassMap AutoGen, but still, there is another flatten and another landclass. They don't even match. My flatten is a bit behind the shoreline now. I drew the coastline according to the elevation and pulled the landclass to the coastline, but still have water behind the coastline. See pictures below. I also checked with Simple Airport Scanner for duplicate sceneries. There's no other scenery than this one. Any help appreciated. Dan

Hey,

I'm not really knowledgeable regarding scenery design for FSX/P3D, and since you're using ADE @scruffyduck would probably be the best guy to help you out! But if this situation is similar to FS9 scenery desgin then here's my :twocents:
If that coastline is the default one, then you have to also exclude it and draw a new one if you're changing the airport background to a smaller size (which seems to be the case).
If the coastline was drawn by you, then you either have the coastline too far away from your VTP polygon (your airport background), or the VTP line for the coastline's width is too small!

Hope I helped!

The default elevation and landclass should be removed with the "poly excluding Airport Backgrounds Flatten MaskClassMap AutoGen", but it's still there. (https://scruffyduck.screenstepslive...-how-do-i-remove-a-stock-airport-from-the-sim) I first made my flatten according to the sat-image. Then I realized water coming up my flatten boundaries. So I thought maybe it's easier to follow the given flatten but now my landclass is not drawn. It goes exactly to the coastline which successfully shows what can be seen on the screenshot, but theres water behind, not land. I also think, I don't see my landclass airport background here.

Hmm if that exclude should remove the airport background then I really don't understand why it didn't :/
One thing you mention though that might come across as confusing: Landclass is one thing, airport background is another! The airport background is a type of landclass, but is not usually referred to as such, since it is in fact a VTP polygon, with a certain 'special' landclass associated to it. These can be excluded.
Plain old landclass isn't drawn through polygons, but instead in small squares that the FS world is divided into (roughly 1.2kmx1.2km in size), and it can't be excluded, only it's autogen can!
IIUC, you created new landclass for the airport; the reason it might not be showing is because there isn't a LWM polygon behind it in that particular area, so you could try every type of landclass you want, with no LWM, only water will show up :/
That still doesn't explain why the airport background didn't go away though...

But as I said, I'm only knowledgeable in FS9 design, and this is not the way you would do what you're trying to for FS9 so I can't really help you much, sorry!

But hopefully someone will show up and give you some tips, you just sit tight a while ;)

Yes I hope, someone can explain me how to disable these ground polies. If I remove my flatten and landclass polies, I can see the default coastline. I have to delete the coastline, since I replace a landbridge with a steel bridge. For this I replace the coastline with my own one. The landclass is just next to the coastline, which follows the default one. When I test in P3D4, I get a different landclass than the one I drew, extending partially in to the sea over my new coastline. So it looks like, my scenery enables another in the back. I don't get it.

I went back to the default coast. I couldn't realize the bridges to the D-Runway Island, so the default landbridge remains there. In terms of AI traffic this works better anyway, since the ai didn't take the runway paths I had to implement there, in order to not have a flatten from the taxiway.
