• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Case sensitivity

Hi,
I wondered if case sensitivity was mandatory because I can see it's all wrong right after building ... layout.json show all lower case paths but actually, folders (at root level ContentInfo, Scenery, etc.)have a capital and textures files are all in capitals so ... ?
thanks

this must be in 2024?
i checked one project in each game, the 2020 sdk seems to include capitols while 2024 did not
then running the MSFSLayoutGenerator.exe on the 2024 layout.json gave it the capitols - at this time either seems to work for the game just fine as far as that specific file goes

some coding requires specific capitalization but rarely is that the case in basic scripting like most of this game
the sdk does recommend some naming formats for certain parts but even most of those are not always hard line rules
for example in 2020 they suggest using xxx-xxx-xxx for addon folder names with all small letters and dashes for spacing, then the default aircraft folder (in SimObjects/Airplanes) used Xxx_Xxx_Xxx, so capitols are ok and they use underscore for spacing there

in 2024 they appear to be dropping the capitols all together on folders
so the addon folder stayed the same, like asobo-aircraft-baron-g58 in both games
but the aircraft folder name itself went from Asobo_Baron_G58 to asobo_baron_g58 on the 2024 server

internally in the xmls/cfgs it appears to be similar, personally I have found no instance where case really matters other than inside some JS snippets of code
that doesnt mean they are not there ... just that I havent tried to change/customize anything I couldnt
