• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Cessna 402B FSX

I always have thought that the things was opposite, would be the manufacturer which should pay to the creator of the model ,if that is the case, or at least help in any way, interesting. what harm could be done making this airplanes, being freeware or payware.

And I am surprised Textron hasn't approached me for building and releasing models from their brand, Bell 206 and Bell 222. Let me keep my mouth shut on this one:tapedshut

Well, i hope you will continue this project and maybe contact Cape Air as your best option. Look forward to it!

How much did they say their licenses cost? I'll make sure to steer clear of Cessna brands. Shame, it was a nice looking model :)

I will finish this model without Textron's help or approval in memory of every c402 that has flown since 1966!

I have a friend who has a friend who is a real C402 pilot, he does aerial surveys, I'll try and get a hold of him for you.

This reminds me of a few years back when AA came around with their lawyers going after scenery and a/c designers for using the AA logos and insignia stating it was a violation of copyright etc etc... its just typical corporate bs.. i can understand payware releases... it makes sense legally, that any entity using likenesses and getting paid should pay, its been around for years, but when they go after freeware designers... I, personally, spend hundreds of hours on a project for free, and to get harassed by a lawyer making $300+ an hour for a 'chicken-you-know-what' cease and assist order is more than insulting....

but, thats the capitalist world we live in... corporate needs and wants rule... period...

personally, I ask if these company suits and lawyers have anything better do to than harass freeware designers... i blame it all on lawyers.....

Lawyers, like guns, need someone to pull the trigger.

If AA doesn't allow their logo in virtual environments, they are the big bad. Not their lawyers.

I fly a C402B at the moment... great aircraft! If I can be of any help to get this plane flying please let me know!

I have had a response from a line pilot here on the forum that currently operates a c402 and he offered to help with info! :) Happy Days!
So I will be able to keep working on this project.

Have you exported this into the sim yet? I ask because I have seen this scenario play out many times. You have a great model there, but you might be in for a very bad surprise when you try to get it into the game. Most of us constantly export as we build (several times a session here) to catch problems when they materialize, as they are sure to do so. At that point it is usually easy to determine where the problem is.

Additionally, considering the fact that you already communicated with Textron I would guess that they might be watching for this model to surface minus the licensing they have already told you about. Are you ready to deal with that potential problem?

Lol yes I export as I go and the model exports fine..it is a simple model and there are no textures or animations yet. I am dealing with Textron and will consider buying a license if the model warrants it... no point spending money if the model looks mickey mouse

So far all the people who offered to help..South Africa, Australia and Maine have yet to deliver :( ...and without the proper info it won't be worth persuing. I have modelled everything from the photo's on airliners. net but it is not enough to finish this project. I will have to keep looking for the IPC or just finish it an AI model.

THAT!? AS AN AI MODEL!? ARE YOU MAD!?

Really, AI models must be low poly or else the render engine will die.

Make it freeware or open source and upload it somewhere for someone else to take on.

But as XPand said, don't make it an AI model. It's WAY too complex for that!

There are any number of places that sell the Pilot Manual for the 402. Twenty-six dollars isn't too bad for accurate information:

Thanks for that link Bill. I have looked at it but the Illustrated Parts Catalog is upwards of $100 and the maintenance manual with all the drawings is $135 to $500! The POH is good for the systems and dynamics ..I think..but I need the illustrated parts thing to help with modelling. I will order the POH as I will need that also..so again thank you for that link.
