• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 Changing ICAO code for using former air base...

Hi everybody,

just to ask if there is a quick solution to change the ICAO code of an airport?
Due to the fact that former air bases in Germany used a D inside their ICAOs (like EDUO, EDUR etc.) there are issues with their current usage just because todays airports now use the D for it (for example EDUO instead of ETUO, RAF Gütersloh...).
Many bases changed their ICAO from EDUR (Brüggen) to ETUR still while their active usage, but some don't.
This can cause problems for AI, because the former ICAO of closed air bases is meanwhile used by other currently active airports (mostly used so by ORBX).
So am I able to change the ICAO of an airport from for example EDUW to ETUW?
Thanks in advance.

I personally wouldn't work around Orbx as they're the ones "piggy-backing" ICAOs and not yourself. You just need to come up with something to de-activate the Orbx file if the end user has the conflicting file - OR, you could contact Orbx themself about this and ask that they provide their customers with an update. Just remember Orbx are not central to every developer, they don't run the show, you are not obliged to work around them or make compromises because, for example, they are piggy backing off another ICAO.

I couldn't find another ETUW on my system - so I loaded EDUW and simply changed the ICAO to ETUW on the properties of the AFCAD using AFX - which will work but you'll probably then have to change/edit flight plans.

Or, you could use AIFP (AI Flight Planner) to re-direct your AI traffic, say, from EDUR to ETUR.

With help from Henk Schuit I decided to start from scratch and used his great "groundwork" he provides me for a small side project :stirthepo.....
Thanks so far!
